The school of information and control engineering was founded in 1960 and developed from the radio specialty. In 1972, the electrical automation specialty of industrial and mining enterprises was opened and enrolled continuously. At the same time, the teaching and Research Office of electrical automation of industrial and mining enterprises was established to form the electromechanical department together with mining machinery and construction machinery. The Department of automatic control was established in 1986 and the College of information and control engineering was rebuilt in 1999. The college was relocated to the Caotang campus in September 2019. It is located in the information control building of the Caotang campus, covering an area of 1270 square meters and a total construction area of 16160 square meters.
The college has two first-class discipline authorization points of computer science and technology, control science and engineering, eight second-class discipline authorization points of control theory and control engineering, detection technology and automation device, system engineering, pattern recognition and intelligent system, intelligent building, computer system structure, computer software and theory and computer application technology, and one professional degree authorization point of electronic information, Intelligent building, environmental technology, information management and information system. And four undergraduate majors: automation, computer science and technology, communication engineering and artificial intelligence. Among them, computer science and technology were selected into the national first-class professional construction, and automation was selected into the provincial first-class professional construction.
At present, the college has 83 full-time teachers, 11 professors and 38 associate professors, of which doctors account for 65%. The college has more than 300 master students and more than 1500 undergraduates.
